Do You Have Traits of an Entrepreneur?

Polaris- Blog 9The adage “I think; therefore I am” couldn’t be more true for entrepreneurs. Achieving success as an independent business owner is routed in the traits you possess and, quite simply, the way you think. A recent article in USA Today provides a checklist of characteristics of entrepreneurs:

• You are driven to succeed.
• You are a self-starter and go-getter.
• You routinely see opportunities where others see problems.
• You take control of your own destiny and bear responsibility for your own actions.
• You are willing to give up the security blanket of corporate life.
• You thrive on change.
• You understand the importance of making a profit.

The article explains that the origin of the word “entrepreneur” is the French “entreprendre”, which means “to undertake.” Isn’t it interesting that the focus of the root word is on the action, rather than the outcome? All successful entrepreneurs understand that point implicitly—that taking action is the crucial first step, and being open to new opportunities that might be revealed along the way.

It’s time to ask yourself: are you thinking like an entrepreneur?

I love the meaning behind words….and this was one that I had not heard before. That is really interesting that Entrepreneur=Undertake (as in an undertaking, taking action).

Thank-you for providing this check list – certainly something to think about. If I am not personally showing some of these traits, then it is something that I can cultivate to increase my success factor.
    Very useful information!

Great article! What is exciting is some folk don’t realise they are entrepreneaurs until they see a check list like this and then look at themselves, thanks.

  4. EVERY MAN HAS A RIGHT TO PROFIT

Let’s talk about the last item on the list, UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING A PROFIT, the most significant concept for those who are conditioned to work for a paycheck while the corporation makes the profit.

    How many make this transition?

    A belief must change.
    A mindset must change.
    An expectation must evolve.

So how many make this transition? ——–> ALL SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS

The entrepreneurs that fail do NOT believe in their RIGHT TO PROFIT……It is that simple.
